Vanessa Blaauw's Teaching Journal: Schedule

Daily Schedule: Hour 1: WIN ASL 7th & 8th "What I Need" class or WIN class. Teaching ASL and deaf culture not for credit. Bringing in people from the community to teach the students and talk with them as well. Hour 2: Study Hall/ DHH Support 6th Each day of the week we focus on a different hour of the day. This can be used as a study hall, but primarily it is to ensure each DHH 6th grader has the vocabulary and tools they need to succeed in the regular education classroom. This is where my primary instruction takes place. I am making sure students can pronounce key terms and define them. We are reviewing for tests or using this as extra test time. We also spend about 5 to 10 min covering self-advocacy or social topics as needed. The week is organized chronologically the same as their class schedule, which happened to match well with their testing schedule most of those classes.
