On-line Teaching

Image
On-line Teaching Adaptation.     With the unexpected requirement to teach online I was able to give my first lesson today online 4/14/2020. Only one student attended this lesson out of 6 students. I directly contacted two parents and the information was shared on google classroom. This was a practice for being able to teach online in the future. We reviewed Mean, Median, Mode, Range, average, and data. I will be revising this lesson and giving a full version of this recorded online. I wasn’t able to record this lesson, so I took a snapshot of the lesson. After reviewing these key terms I had the student bring up their homework in google classrooms where I was able to review and read through their homework with them. Due to excess background noise and distractions I may keep the classroom size to one on one lessons or two students at a time. I am working on ways to make this engaging and interactive.

Project 1 Self-Advocacy

Project 1 Self Advocacy Goals Summary of Student: Emmanuel is a 6th grade student who relies on his cochlear implant in order to hear. He has bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. He does not hear from his left ear and his right ear has his CI. Emmanuel is meeting grade level expectations in most of his classes. He is able to understand grade concepts and respond appropriately, but does not use correct grammar, spelling, or syntax. He quantifies as an English Language Learner as Spanish is the primary language spoken at home and has effected his English acquisition. Without his CI he cannot detect speech sounds. Emmanuel needs speakers to be within 10 feet of his assistive device, he needs minimal background noise, and for his right ear to be facing the presenter. His hearing loss is primarily effecting high frequency sounds such as s, th, and f. These high frequency sounds are also more common in spoken language and have dramatically impacted his speech and language pro...

Assessment & Monitoring System Initial Progress Check

https://docs.google.com/document/d/196uCzhW1EHUwLBo8rKHvtkywXVEafkhi6_Aq9No4Hyc/edit?usp=sharing Teaching II Summary      What is the measure of a good teacher? Danielson’s Framework for Teaching has become the basis at which the effectiveness of a teacher can be measured in a quantifiable way.  The main four domains being planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities. The focus of the Teaching II class at UWM is to address and grow these domains emphasizing that “ Participants will be able to identify components of progress monitoring for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Participants will learn a variety of ways to organize and maintain a Progress Monitoring Binder”  (Progress Monitoring & Record Keeping for the Itinerant Teacher Powerpoint slide 6).   The class is broken up into three key projects, observations, and self reflections that help individuals grow in Daniels...
